Your privacy

We're a small boutique, and we keep only what we need to answer you and sell you a good piece. We don't sell or rent your information, and this website doesn't track you.

Who we are

What we collect, and why

• Messages. When you write or call to ask about a piece, we use your name, email or phone number to answer you — and, if you ask us to, to hold the piece or let you know when something similar comes in.
• Purchases. When you buy in store, we keep a record of the sale. Card payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see or keep your full card number.

We don't collect more than that, and we don't use it for anything else without asking you first.

This website

• No cookies, no analytics, no ads. The site doesn't set cookies, doesn't track your visits and doesn't show advertising.
• Nothing to fill in. There are no forms or accounts. The "Write to us" and "Ask about this piece" buttons open your own email app — nothing is sent until you send it.
• Things loaded from elsewhere. To display the site, your browser fetches some things from other services: typefaces from Google Fonts, the map on our Visit page from OpenStreetMap, and some photos from image hosts. Those services see your IP address and browser type when they deliver them, as any web server does.
• Server logs. The servers that deliver the site may briefly log technical details, such as your IP address and browser, to keep it running and secure.
• Links out. Our Instagram link takes you to Instagram, where its own privacy policy applies.

Who we share it with

Only our payment provider, for card payments, and only what it needs. We don't sell, rent or trade your information. We would disclose it only if the law required us to.

How long we keep it

We keep messages only as long as the conversation needs, and sales records as long as the law requires (for tax, for example). Ask us and we'll delete anything we don't have to keep.

Your choices

Under Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA), you can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our keeping it. Write to hello@bijouboutique.ca, call us, or ask in the boutique, and we'll answer within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
